Sudbury SEPAC
Advocating, Connecting & Empowering Sudbury Students with Disabilities
Who We Are
Sudbury SEPAC is the Special Education Parent Advisory Council for Sudbury Public Schools. Our mission is to advocate for the education and safety of all Sudbury students with disabilities in grades Pre-K through 8 by —
Building understanding, acceptance, connection, and inclusion
Providing information about community and district resources
Creating family networking and support opportunities
Offering community and special education workshops and events
Collaborating with the school committee and the administration to continuously improve student outcomes and well-being
What We Do
Sudbury SEPAC provides families with opportunities to connect, learn, access resources, and advocate in a variety of ways, including —
Parent & Caregiver Connection Groups: Sudbury SEPAC hosts six parent and caregiver connection groups serving families of students with ADHD, Autism, social-emotional challenges, literacy challenges, preschool-aged children, and complex learning profiles. Throughout the year, SEPAC also offers additional connection opportunities that bring all groups together to share resources, build networks, and support one another.
Workshops & Events: Sudbury SEPAC offers special education workshops and events throughout the year for families and educators. In partnership with the district, SEPAC is also a member of the MassPAC network through the Federation for Children with Special Needs (FCSN). This affiliation provides access to a monthly series of virtual workshops covering special education rights and other important, timely topics.
Advocacy: Sudbury SEPAC fulfills its regulatory responsibilities by advising the School Committee on matters related to the education and safety of students with disabilities. The SEPAC works collaboratively with school officials to support the planning, development, and evaluation of the district’s special education programs. This work includes regular meetings with the Directors of Student Services, participating in School Committee discussions on issues relevant to special education, conducting an annual community survey and presenting the results to the School Committee, and offering informed policy recommendations to support students and families.
